Husband and wife team Gillian and Mark Baldwin have launched a new £100k children’s indoor play centre in Prescott, after securing funding from The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

The couple have opened ‘SpaceWorld’, an 8,000 sq ft attraction on Prescott Business Park.

The RBS funding package was provided via the Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme (EFG).

The centre features a sports area, the latest play equipment, a go-karting facility and a catering/seating area for parents. The venture has created 10 new jobs and will cater for children up to 13 years of age.

Gillian has left her job as a beauty consultant to run the new business, whilst Mark will continue with his job as a Fire Fighter. Gillian and Mark have operated a children’s bouncy castle business for the last five years and the success of this operation persuaded them to launch SpaceWorld.

Gillian Baldwin, Director of SpaceWorld Ltd, commented: “Before opening we spoke with many families and groups who told us the area needed a venue like this where families can come together and have some fun. We are confident they will enjoy the centre.”

The RBS funding package was provided via the Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme (EFG). The Governmentbacked scheme aims to ensure that smaller businesses have the necessary working capital or investment finance in place to support their day-to-day operations. Under the EFG scheme, the Government will guarantee 75% of any loans made, with the bank covering the remaining 25%.
