TheCityUK welcomes appointment of Martin Wheatley as chief executive designate of CPMA
TheCityUK welcomes the appointment of Martin Wheatley as chief executive designate of the Consumer Protection and Markets Authority (CPMA).
The new appointment is a significant milestone in moving on from a period of uncertainty surrounding the protection of financial services customers, giving the industry greater clarity and direction when approaching its consumers.
Chris Cummings, CEO of TheCityUK, comments:
"I wish Martin the upmost success in his new role, and I hope that he will ensure the competitiveness of the UK is at the heart of his approach to the many issues he will tackle both here in the UK and during his work with the new EU supervisory bodies.
"The CPMA has a vital role to play in helping to provide UK consumers with transparency and simplicity when they deal with financial services products, in turn allowing the UK market to develop competitively and provide greater choice and range of service."
