Nottingham, Leicester, Northampton and Derby have the largest concentrations of employment in financial and related professional services.
During the last decade, the East Midlands has experienced some of the fastest population growth in the UK. The region’s economy has become more diverse, increasing its service sector activity. Businesses based in the East Midlands have developed the capability to serve not only the local and regional market but also national and international clients and customers.
Over 80,000 of the East Midlands workforce are employed in financial and related professional services. This equates to around 4.1% of the region’s workforce. The gross value added of the sector totals £6.6bn, nearly 8% of regional economic output.
