Published 19/01/2012

UKIFS member organisation, Islamic Banking and Finance Centre-UK (IBFC-UK), signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University on Tuesday 17 January at the British Consulate General, Istanbul.

IBFC-UK will offer short courses in Islamic finance for Turkey’s rapidly growing financial sector and the neighbouring region. The ceremony was witnessed by the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman David Wootton. Akmal Hanuk, Chief Executive of IBFC –UK, comments:

“I am delighted that UKIFS has helped to facilitate the presence of the Lord Mayor at the ceremony during a trip to Turkey to promote UK’s financial services – it sends a strong message of the UK’s support for the Islamic finance sector and our desire to work with international partners in the education training and qualification sector”.
