We welcome the Government's recent Action Plan and the new, leading role for the Legal Services and Dispute Resolution Group. We bring together the leading institutions and firms providing litigation and arbitration services, working with our members to deliver an integrated and strategic approach to the overseas agenda.

Many organisations in London facilitate the resolution of disputes between international parties,
while extensive arbitration and mediation services have been developed to resolve disputes throughout the UK. Disputes can involve parties in a wide range of trades and sectors, including maritime, commodities, financial services and construction.

Our report Dispute Resolution in London and the UK 2012 showed the total number of disputes resolved through arbitration, mediation and adjudication was 21,260 in 2011. London is the most preferred seat of arbitration and companies are twice as likely to choose English law over any other law.
