On Wednesday 24 February, we held webinar on financial services priorities for the UK G7 and Italian G20 Presidencies in partnership with the British Embassy Rome, Embassy of Italy in London, City of London Corporation and Italian Banking, Finance and Insurance Federation.
Miles Celic, CEO, TheCityUK welcomed the virtual audience before handing over to Jill Morris CMG, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Italy and Raffaele Trombetta, Italian Ambassador to the UK to deliver the opening remarks. The Ambassadors noted the close cooperation between the UK and Italy, highlighting the joint UK-Italy COP26 Presidency this year.
Paolo Garonna, Secretary General, Italian Banking and Finance Federation chaired a conversation between Mark Garvin, Vice Chairman, Corporate and Investment Bank, JP Morgan and Innocenzo Cipolletta, Senior Advisor, UBS (Italy) the Co-Chairs of the Anglo-Italian Financial Services Dialogue. The conversation explored the need for the G7 and G20 to lead a coordinated global response to Covid-19 recovery and climate change and the role of financial services in both these efforts.
The final session was moderated by Catherine McGuinness, Chair of the Policy & Resource Committee, City of London Corporation and Deputy Chair, TheCityUK. The panellists were Sally Belfield (Deputy Director, International, HM Treasury), Elisabetta Cervone (Senior Advisor- G20 Italian Team, Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance), Antony Manchester (Managing Director, Public Policy, BlackRock) and Fabio Marchetti (Group Head of International Affairs, Generali). Panellists outlined the UK G7 and Italy G20 Finance Track priorities and industry welcomed the synergy between the two agendas.
