TheCityUK appoints Sir Adrian Montague as Chairman of its Advisory Council

TheCityUK has appointed Sir Adrian Montague CBE, Chairman of Aviva, as Chairman of its Advisory Council. Sir Adrian will succeed Paul Manduca, who will step down on 30 September 2019.

Sir Adrian will lead TheCityUK Advisory Council, working closely with TheCityUK Chairman, Mark Tucker, and the executive team, to ensure that the UK remains a competitive and attractive world-leading centre for financial and related professional services.

Sir Adrian Montague, Chairman designate, TheCityUK Advisory Council, said,

TheCityUK has a vital role to play in a period of unprecedented change. Never has it been more important for the voice of financial and related professional services – one of the UK’s biggest employers, with 2.3 million people working in the industry – to be heard. Paul Manduca has steered the Advisory Council with great skill and a sure touch. I look forward to building on his excellent legacy.

Paul Manduca, Chairman, TheCityUK Advisory Council, said,

The Advisory Council is the pre-eminent forum for business leaders across the financial and related professional services ecosystem. Chairing the Council at this important time for the industry and the UK has been a privilege, with its discussions central to TheCityUK’s work on critical issues such as Brexit, future skills and talent, and international trade and investment. It has provided a valuable forum for our industry to engage with government, senior regulators and others – a function that will be ever more important in the months and years ahead. I am very pleased to hand over to Adrian, and wish him, Mark and Miles and the team all the very best.

Mark Tucker, Chairman, TheCityUK Board, said,

I am very pleased to welcome Adrian as Chairman of TheCityUK Advisory Council. I would like to thank Paul for his enormous contribution and commitment during a period of significant change in the UK and across the world. While our latest period of working together has been all too brief, I have enormously valued his energy and counsel.
