Wayne Evans, Managing Director, International Trade and Investment, has a wide business and government background with over 30 years of bilateral trade and multilateral policy making. He has extensive experience of international trade promotion, bilateral business partnerships and policy negotiation.
From 2010 to 2013 he was Director, International Strategy at TheCityUK. As one of the founding Directors, in addition to helping establish the organisation, he was responsible for recommending and working with his team to implement TheCityUK’s international agenda. He also wrote and set TheCityUK’s policy for relations with other International Financial Centres. At that time, because of his trade promotion experience, he also served on the International Trade Panel of Judges for the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.
He left in 2013 to form his own consultancy but maintained contact with TheCityUK advising on Islamic Finance issues and was asked by HM Government to be part of UK Task Force on Islamic Finance.
Prior to working in the City of London he was a diplomat employed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). In his FCO career he enjoyed overseas postings in The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Austria, Iraq, Lesotho and France, holding a variety of positons in Trade Promotion, Economic and Political policy, Aid and Development, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing regulation and implementation.
A passionate believer in education he served as an adviser to the Islamic Finance faculty at the University of East London and as a trustee for a charity tackling the problems of low literacy in children and the effect this has on the whole of our community.
