Sir Gerry Grimstone to step down as TheCityUK Chairman

TheCityUK has announced that its Chairman, Sir Gerry Grimstone, will step down as planned at the end of his three-year term in September 2015.

Lord Green, Chairman of TheCityUK’s Advisory Council, will lead the Nominations Committee’s search to find a successor to Sir Gerry, with a  new Chairperson to be announced at TheCityUK’s 2015 Annual General Meeting in September.

Sir Gerry said,

In a very short time, TheCityUK has firmly established itself as the authoritative voice of UK-based financial and related professional services and has gone from strength to strength in terms of the scope, nature and influence of its work.  Members have been incredibly supportive of the work that we do and the calibre of the team has consistently given me confidence in our ability to address the most significant issues facing our industry.  I am proud to have had the opportunity to lead this organisation and will continue to remain close to its work.

Lord Green commented,

TheCityUK has been fortunate to have had Sir Gerry as its Chairman.  The Nominations Committee will now seek a new Chairman of similar standing from across the organisation’s membership who can help guide it in the next phase of its development, leading the Board, and working closely with its Chief Executive, Chris Cummings and the excellent executive team.

Chris Cummings, Chief Executive, said,

Sir Gerry has made an enormous contribution to TheCityUK’s success to date.  Under his chairmanship, TheCityUK has established a reputation not only for successfully promoting and protecting the competitiveness of UK-based financial and related professional services here in the UK, the EU and globally, but also for delivering results on the things that matter most to our members and the industry.

Sir Gerry will continue his duties as Chairman of TheCityUK until the end of his tenure.  He will continue to Chair the China Free Trade Zone International Experts Consultation Group and be the UK lead on the India-UK Financial Partnership, supported by TheCityUK team.
