TheCityUK, the industry-led body representing UK-based financial and related professional services, has appointed Lyndsey Fallon as its new Regional Chair for the North West. Lyndsey will join a network of TheCityUK National and Regional Chairs across the UK to promote and advocate for the industry in the region.

As TheCityUK Regional Chair for the North West, Lyndsey, who is a Risk Advisory Partner at Deloitte, will be focused on developing opportunities for greater collaboration with other financial centres across the UK, leading industry engagement with policymakers across the region and in Westminster, and pursuing stronger links with key local stakeholders.

Miles Celic, Chief Executive Officer, TheCityUK, said, “I am delighted that Lyndsey has joined our UK-wide network of chairs. Her extensive experience and expertise in the industry and her strong network across the North West region will add enormous value to our work. We look forward to working closely with her to champion the industry across the region, strengthen key partnerships with local stakeholders and forge stronger links between other UK financial hubs.

“Financial and related professional services are a major national asset, employing one in 13 people in the UK – two thirds of whom are based outside London. The industry creates jobs and drives economic growth right across the country.”

Lyndsey Fallon, TheCityUK Chair in the North West, and Deloitte partner, said, “I am honoured to take up the position of TheCityUK Regional Chair for the North West. The region is a significant financial and related professional services hub and home to a large cluster of firms from across the industry. Having lived and worked in the North West for much of my career I know what a fantastic place it is. Enhancing collaboration across the North West and with other major financial centres around the UK will be among my priorities, as will strengthening awareness of the industry’s role in enabling growth across the region.”

The North West is the largest financial centre outside London and the South East, with particular strengths in asset and wealth management, management consulting and accountancy. The North West saw 29% growth in financial and related professional services output (GVA) between 2010-2020[1]. Around 289,000 people were employed in the industry in the North West, accounting for 11.8% of total financial and related professional services employment in 2021[2]. It is also home to the second largest legal centre in the UK after London.

TheCityUK’s network of National and Regional Chairs are based in some of the UK’s most prominent financial and related professional centres, including in Northern Ireland, West Midlands, South West, Wales, Yorkshire and the Humber, and the North East. These Chairs support the organisation’s programme to promote the strength of the industry and the high-value, high-productivity jobs it creates across the whole of the UK.
