Responding to the publication of the government’s Green Finance Strategy for 2023, Miles Celic, Chief Executive Officer, TheCityUK, said, “The government’s updated Green Finance Strategy is a significant and welcome step forward on the UK’s path to net-zero transition. It is very positive to hear the Chancellor recognise the vital enabling role of financial and related professional services in achieving the transition to net zero and supporting nature and climate adaptation.

“Unlocking private capital to transition the UK to a greener, cleaner future, delivering a UK Green Taxonomy, upskilling in sustainable finance and ensuring alignment of global financial frameworks will be key steps, as will greater support for the industry to enable it to fully contribute to and prosper from a transitioning global economy.

“A stable, long-term policy strategy and regulatory environment are essential for achieving the ambitions set out in this strategy. We look forward to continuing to work with government to ensure the UK cements its position as a world-leader for global green finance and investment.”
