This scoping paper sets out BAFA’s vision for UK-US regulatory dialogue and advocates that mechanisms for coordination with the financial and professional services industry be built into the regulatory dialogue process.
It also discusses the relationship between regulatory cooperation and trade agreements and highlights potential opportunities and issues that should be featured in the trade and investment talks and on the regulatory cooperation agenda. The paper posits that a new UK-US financial and professional services relationship should be forged on the dual tracks of regulatory cooperation and trade and investment. Both present huge opportunities for the two economies to use their unique cross-border relationship to lay a foundation for greater prosperity.
