TheCityUK are pleased to announce a policymaker roundtable with Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, Conservative MP for North East Somerset, to discuss the forthcoming referendum on the UK’s EU membership and the Treasury Select Committee’s priorities.
This session will provide an opportunity to discuss the February Council Conclusions and the UK’s future relationship with the EU. It will also provide an insight into the dynamics within the Conservative Party and Jacob Rees-Mogg’s views on how the campaign will play out. As a member of the Treasury Select Committee, Jacob is particularly well placed to discuss these issues and the implications for financial and related professional services of a potential vote to leave.
Jacob Rees-Mogg MP first joined the House of Commons in 2010. He currently sits on the Palace of Westminster Joint Committee, European Scrutiny Committee and Treasury Select Committee. Along with having gained a reputation for being one the most rebellious Conservative MPs, Jacob is also known for his humorous speeches and ability to filibuster. Jacob is seen as one the most Eurosceptic members of the Conservative Party at present.
TheCityUK’s policymaker roundtable series brings key policymakers together with senior representatives from TheCityUK members in a private setting, under the Chatham House Rule. The emphasis of these sessions is on finding solutions to policy issues through a candid exchange of views.
