The launch of a report on the future regulatory and supervisory framework for financial services post-Brexit which has been developed by the International Regulatory Strategy Group (IRSG) in association with Linklaters LLP.
Building on the ‘The Great Repeal Bill’: Domesticating EU Law, this report considers the changes in the respective responsibilities of regulators and the government as rule-making processes are domesticated through the EU Withdrawal Bill. The paper outlines principles for an effective regulatory framework, explores ways in which current responsibilities can be mapped across to UK institutions and takes a more long-term, strategic view of the relationship between regulators, the government and the industry in the post-Brexit regulatory and supervisory processes.
Confirmed speakers at the launch event include:
- Dr Kay Swinburne MEP
- The Rt Hon. the Lord Bruce of Bennachie, EU Financial Affairs Sub-Committee, House of Lords
- Mark Hoban, Chair of the IRSG
- Julian Adams, Group Regulatory & Government Relations Director, Prudential Plc
- Lucy Fergusson, Partner, Linklaters
The launch will take the form of a panel discussion between industry leaders and members of the policymaking community. Policymakers, practitioners and key opinion formers are invited to discuss the implications of this report and we would be delighted if you could join us for what promises to be an interesting debate.
The IRSG is co-sponsored by TheCityUK and the City of London Corporation.
