This virtual roundtable with the Bank of England’s Northern Ireland team will be hosted by our Belfast City Chair, Leigh Meyer and held on video-conference platform Zoom.
Part of our Regions & Nations programme, this is one of a series of meetings we are convening with the Bank’s field teams across the UK. Representing the Bank, Frances Hill will update Northern Ireland members on the findings of the Monetary Policy Committee’s Quarterly Report (published on 7 May), before a wider discussion takes place focusing on the response of the financial and related professional services industry to Covid-19 and its wider impact on business in Belfast and across Northern Ireland.
These conversations are taking place alongside an ongoing dialogue that has taken place in recent weeks between TheCityUK’s Leadership Council and the Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey. A key output of these discussions was TheCityUK’s commitment to develop an Ecosystem Recovery Plan in response to the coronavirus, and regional perspectives will form a key pillar of this.
This event will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule and we will not be recording the event.
