We have recently submitted a response to the Business and Trade Sub-Committee on Economic Security, Arms and Export Controls.

We believe the UK’s economic security depends on the continued success of the leading, globally competitive and interconnected sectors of the economy. Embedding economic security considerations in the government’s industrial and trade strategies and broader economic policy must be complemented by a clear Cabinet Office-led strategic approach to measuring the effectiveness of the capabilities and policies necessary to bolster the UK’s economic security.

We hope to see the concepts of economic security addressed and clarified in the forthcoming national security strategy. In addition, we urge the government to respond to the previous government's consultation on the National Security and Investment Act (which proposed extending the sectors covered and some technical exemptions to the mandatory notification requirements).
